Fines and Fees
Library fines and fees may be paid at your local branch of the San Diego County Library or by mailing a check made out to San Diego County Library to the following address:

Library Registration
- California residents & military: FREE
- Replacement cards: $2.00 each
- Non-California residents: $5.00 one-time fee
Loan Period
- DVDs, Videos, CDs, Express Items: 7 days
- Other items: 21 days
Renewal Period
- Four additional loan periods unless item is "on reserve" for another customer
Borrowing Privileges Suspended
- Fines and Fees in excess of $10.00
Overdue Fines
- Adult and Young Adult materials: $.25 each day per item; $10.00 maximum each item
- Children's materials: $.10 each day per item; $10.00 maximum each item
- ILL Materials $.50 each day per item; $25.00 maximum each item
- Videocassettes/DVDs: $1.00 each day per item; $10.00 maximum each item
- Video Games: $.25 each day per item; $10.00 maximum each item
- Circuit Materials & Link+: $1.00 each day per item; No maximum fine limit
Library cards will not be renewed/replaced unless all overdue fines and/or fees are paid. Overdue accounts of $100.00 or more will be subject to collection agency action.
Collection Agency Fee
- $10.00 each referral
Lost Item/Items Damaged Beyond Repair
- $5.00 processing fee (non-refundable) plus price of item
Photocopies/Printouts
- $ .15 each page (black & white)
Returned Check Fee
- $25.00 each check
Community Room Usage Fee
- $50.00 for each two-hour period (fee waived if proof of 501(c)3 provided)
