Celebrate Women’s History Month

We celebrate Women’s History Month during March, and the theme this year is "Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations."

This thoughtful theme celebrates the women who dedicated their lives to education, mentorship, and leadership. This can be mothers who homeschool their children to CEOs running companies to mentors in Boys and Girls Clubs. No matter what position you’re in, there are ways to educate yourself with the help of the library. Gale Presents: Udemy is just one of the online resources available to everyone with an SDCL card.

Did you know there are colors to celebrate Women’s History Month? Purple represents honor, dignity, visionary thinking, and justice. This color is also commonly associated with women’s causes, International Women’s Day, and gender equality. Green represents growth, hope, and new beginnings. The final color is white, which represents purity, freedom, equality, and truth. This color is also associated with the suffragists who fought for women's right to vote.

Since 1911, International Women's Day (March 8) is recognized globally to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

Move forward together and look for ways to mentor, lead, and educate yourself and others!
