SANDAG is helping communities Get Connected by raising awareness of resources available to access affordable high-speed internet.
Internet connectivity is an essential part of everyday life, but the gap between people with and without reliable internet access is growing. This disparity heavily impacts low-income households, rural communities, and people in Tribal lands, with purchasing affordable internet service.
SANDAG’s Get Connected program seeks to bridge the growing digital divide in the San Diego region by partnering with 2-1-1 to link people to a one-stop shop of community resources:
- Learn about a monthly internet discount through the federal Affordable Connectivity Program
- Access public Wi-Fi at hundreds of locations across the region
- Visit your local library to use computers and connect to free internet.
- Purchase a low-cost computer or get free digital training from the San Diego Futures Foundation.
The Get Connected program is part of SANDAG’s Regional Digital Equity Strategy and Action Plan, which aims to expand high-speed internet access and adoption to everyone in the San Diego region.
